Development Officer Position

We are looking for a dynamic team player and strategic communicator, who is passionate about community engagement and the MASG mission, to fill a 0.2 FTE position based in Castlemaine.

Experience in fundraising, partnership development, event management highly regarded.

Development Offier – Position Description

The Development Officer position will require the development and execution of a variety of activities that will help to raise profile and funds that will contribute to MASG remaining a sustainable entity into the future.

These activities can be described as the following:

Sponsorship and Membership

Extend and develop MASG sponsorship programs.

Support the administration to maintain and expand the membership list.


Work with the Committee of Management and Office Manager in sourcing and preparing applications for grants and any relevant acquittals.


Develop a program of Sustainability Drinks (approx. bi-monthly) with support from the Office Manager. (N.B. A calendar of events is already in place for 2018).

Develop a minimum one main fundraising event a year.

Organise and motivate volunteers in support of these events as well as incidental events with which MASG may be involved.

Wash against Waste Trailer

Manage bookings of new trailer and payment of fees.

Manage the hiring and payment of non-trailer crockery and cutlery.

Organise sale of old trailer

Organise a procedure for the sale of plans of new trailer to other not for profit groups.


Hours of work

8 hours per week


Selection Criteria:

Demonstrated experience in Event Management

Demonstrated experience in Community Engagement and/ or Volunteer Coordination

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proven ability to work effectively in both unsupervised settings and as a member of a team.


Knowledge of fundraising strategies, grants and sponsorship as relevant to the sustainability and / or not for profit sectors.
