Our first attempt at a Fashion Fundraiser was a great success. We had positive feedback from all involved and a lot of enthusiasm for an repeat next year. We are hoping to turn it into an annual fundraiser for MASG, both a fun event and a chance to showcase local creative talent, exploring sustainable alternatives to fast fashion.
Thanks to everyone who came, and especially big thanks to those who submitted their pieces for the cat walk.
Our three judges were spectacular and inspiring, offering something positive to each contestant and ultimately awarding our fabulous trophies and prizes to a couple of stand out entries.
DJ Moonchild (aka Tim Ratcliffe) keep the afternoon lively with music, banter and a roving mic through the audience. We had a speed sewing contest, where teams were given a bag of mystery items and had one hour to create an outfit. We had artist Eliza-Jane Gilchrist with a hat making station and multiple stalls of local groups with a climate message. Not to mention our huge rummage sale which was very popular. We watched people walk around with bulging bags full of goodies.
Huge thanks to all of our sponsors for donations of food, wine, signs and prizes:
