Join local people taking action on climate change …
EVENING GATHERING FRIDAY 7.30 – 9.30PM
Australia’s leading renewable energy expert and author Dr Mark Diesendorf will discuss the future of renewable energy and how renewable energy can help us combat the climate change crisis.
Director of the Sustainability Centre at the University of NSW, Dr Diesendorf, says a 30 per cent reduction in Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 is achievable but would need energy efficiency and renewable energy measures, and a change of diet. This is just one of many challenging proposals in the Greenpeace report, Paths to a Low Carbon Future.
Some of his other recent work includes: ‘Greenhouse Solutions with Sustainable Energy’, 2007, ‘Clean energy scenarios for Australia’, Energy Policy 35 (2): 1245-56; ‘Wind power in Australia’, 2006, and ‘Can geosequestration save the coal industry?’
Mark will be followed by presentations on local projects and ways you can be involved.
