MASG New Appointments

Welcome to our new staff
The recruitment process for the recently advertised part-time roles at MASG has been completed and we are very pleased to announce the following appointments and welcome the following people to the MASG team.
Coordinator – this position has been re-advertised with a new closing date of 20 July. In the interim, we are delighted that Janet Philips will fill the role for the next 6 weeks. Janet most recently worked at Sustainable Victoria and has a long involvement in Transition Towns and other social/environmental issues in Castlemaine. Janet will assist the general coordination of MASG with a focus on the needs and interests of members and supporters. She will also help with the settling in of new staff and coordinate the Coordinating Group, Committee of Management and other volunteers and help prepare the way for the incoming permanent Coordinator. Janet will start next Tuesday 10th July.
Communications Officer – Many of you know Andrew McKenna, a local journalist who operates the online Castlemaine Independent. He will take on this role for half a day each week, bringing with him his strong media, general communications and web-based skills as well as a long history of support for social issues in Castlemaine. Andrew will start with a handover with Ian on Wednesday 11th July.
Finance Officer – Melissa Pollock will manage MASG finances half a day week. Melissa is a Harcourt local with long experience managing the accounts for local businesses as well as involvement in various community and sporting groups. Melissa will start on Wednesday 11th July
Fundraising Officer – Some of you will also know Alex Dixon, a local musician and Steiner stream teacher with a passion for member- and community- based ways of working and great enthusiasm for the MASG cause. She will be working with members and supporters in her fundraising role for one day a week. Alex will start with MASG on Monday 16th July.
Long term Office Volunteers – we have two long term volunteers fulfilling admin and membership roles: Keith Neaves and Kate Orr. Thanks to them for their continuity during this time of change.
Thanks must go to Margaret Rasa and Natalie Moxham from the MASG Committee of Management for managing the recruitment process and to Tim Ford for assisting with the recruitment panel. And a big thank you to Ian Lillington for filling the role as Coordinator in a voluntary capacity for the past 10 weeks – we thank you for your efforts and contribution, particularly in managing the move to the new location, and wish you well in your travels in coming weeks.
