There’s been a solar energy spill!

Switch on to our e-news! Switch off fossil power.
The next e-news will be published on Thursday, 8 May, so get your contributions in to us then, by 11am.
There’s lots on next week. In particular, look out for Sustainability Drinks, on Friday, 2 May in the evening, where we have a range of people speaking on fire and climate change. 2 May is also the National Day of Divestment, where people are letting their banks know funding fossil fuel projects is on the nose.
There is an action planned for Castlemaine, and we’d love to see you at either or both of those!
We’ve moved!
Thanks to all those who helped us shift, especially to Anna and Kate, who shouldered a great part of the responsibility. Also to Keith, Bernie, Alex, Ian (and we think some others whose names we didn’t get – you know who you are).
Because shifting is a bit like having an ingrown toenail, it was wonderful that you turned up and helped us out in our hour of ute need.
We’re now in our new premises every day, slightly uneven hours, so ring first on 5470 6978 if you want to see someone specific.
Welcome to Taryn Lane from Hepburn Wind and Hal Greenham, who is working on Coal Seam Gas.
We still need a few things sorted – if anyone could put up some shelves for us that would be great (and supply the shelves.)
We’re hoping to have an open afternoon at our new building soon: you’ll see the Enviro Shop, Veg All Natural, the new café … plenty there to keep you interested.
We’re getting close to launching The People’s Solar, an innovative new partnership between MASG and Energy for the People. The project will deliver great social benefit from clean energy solutions.
New solar arrays for roofs, social benefits for communities, cuts in greenhouse gases … you can find out more about The People’s Solar at their website, or by emailing them. Watch this space: we’re very excited about what’s in store!

Day of Divestment in Castlemaine
Come and join us!
There’s a Facebook page, which you can go to and ‘like’.
There is plenty of information on the page about divestment, and how to do it, or even how to express your displeasure at the big banks’ actions.

Last word
$100 invested in solar creates $15-20 of value every year. Over the lifetime of your solar system, you could more than quadruple your money.
For example, making a $100 tax deductible donation to The People’s Solar could deliver over $400 of much needed financial support for your community.
It’s like your very own community grants program!
